Cornell students protest over 2024 assault case
- A "Justice for Survivors" protest at Cornell featured about a dozen speakers; student Saya Taylor, 18, addressed the crowd.
- An anonymous student ("Jane Doe") filed a September 14 lawsuit alleging seven male students gang-raped her at a fraternity house in 2024.
- Jane Doe initially described the evening — including drinking and ketamine use — as voluntary and consensual, then requested a rape kit at a local emergency room more than two weeks later.
- The Tompkins County district attorney declined to bring charges, finding her described participation "voluntary, conscious, and consensual," per the county's published findings.
