Live Transit Detroit · Terms of Use

Terms of Use

Effective: October 15, 2026 · Last updated: October 18, 2026

1. The service

Live Transit Detroit is a free public map and journey planner operated by AutomatedTechnologies d/b/a Detroit Automation Academy. It displays public transit stops, routes, schedules, and — while the live sources are operating — vehicle positions for the Detroit area, and it computes journeys from published schedule data. There is no account, no charge, and no advertising.

2. Your agreement

By using Live Transit Detroit, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms govern the whole application, including every data source it displays.

3. Where the data comes from

The schedule, route, and stop data shown in the application comes from published GTFS schedule files. The street underlay is U.S. Census Bureau TIGER/Line data. Live vehicle positions and service information shown in the application come from the agencies' own systems, through the following sources, as each source is in use:

  • DDOT vehicle positions and service bulletins: the Detroit Department of Transportation's BusTime system, operated by Clever Devices.
  • SMART vehicle positions: Swiftly, Inc.
  • QLINE vehicle positions: the QLINE's public GTFS-Realtime stream.

Agency and company names are used only to state where the data comes from. Nothing in the application or these terms implies that any agency or company endorses this service.

4. What you may do with the data — and what you may not

The live data displayed in the application is provided for your personal viewing inside the application. You may use the application through its own interface, in the ordinary way a rider uses a map.

You may not:

  • scrape, harvest, crawl, or otherwise extract the live data, or the files that carry it, in bulk or systematically, by automated means or by hand;
  • copy, redistribute, republish, sell, lease, share, transfer, or sublicense the live data or any feed of it, in whole or in part, to any other person or service;
  • use the live data to build, supply, or operate a competing data product, data feed, or transit data service;
  • remove or alter any attribution, copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice shown with the data or the application;
  • interfere with the operation of the service or of the data sources it depends on.

Ordinary use of the application's own interface — opening the map, planning a journey, reading a stop card — is not extraction and is not restricted by this section.

5. No warranty

The service and all data it displays are provided "as is." AutomatedTechnologies d/b/a Detroit Automation Academy and its data sources make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the service or the data, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose, and any warranty against infringement of third-party rights.

Vehicle positions, arrival estimates, and service information may be delayed, inaccurate, incomplete, or unavailable, including without any notice on the map. Do not rely on this service for safety-critical decisions. Published schedules and the operating agencies remain the authority for service information.

6. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AutomatedTechnologies d/b/a Detroit Automation Academy and its data sources are not responsible or liable for: (a) any loss of, or inaccuracy in, the data the service displays, or the cost of obtaining substitute information; or (b) any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the service or the data, including loss of revenue or profits. Nothing in these terms limits liability for bodily injury.

7. Changes to the service

AutomatedTechnologies d/b/a Detroit Automation Academy may change, suspend, or discontinue the service, or any data source it uses, at any time and without notice. These terms may be revised; the current version is the one published at this address, with its "Last updated" date.

Terms — Live Transit Austin

Who publishes this service

Live Transit Austin is published by AUTOMATEDTECHNOLOGIES d/b/a Detroit Automation Academy ("we", "us"). It is an independent service. It is not published by, affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (CapMetro).

The service

Live Transit Austin shows CapMetro vehicle positions, service alerts, and scheduled journeys on a map of the Austin region (Travis, Williamson and Hays counties, Texas). Riders never pay for Live Transit. There are no ads on the map. Live positions are republished from CapMetro's own feeds on a short cycle; a position is only as current as its timestamp, and scheduled journeys are computed from the published timetable — check the "updated" time on the page before relying on either.

Privacy — the short version

No account. No tracking. Your location never leaves this device. Live Transit Austin has no accounts and no sign-up. If you use the "Near me" feature, your location is used in your browser, on your device, to find your nearest stop; it is not sent to us or stored. Map preferences (which layers you show, whether the start sheet is collapsed) are stored only in your own browser.

CapMetro data and the CapMetro Open Data License Agreement

The transit data on this page — routes, stops, schedules, vehicle positions, trip updates, and service alerts — is CapMetro Data obtained from CapMetro's published feeds (served through the State of Texas open data portal, data.texas.gov) and used under the CapMetro Open Data License Agreement, which governs both the schedule and the realtime data. Under that agreement:

  • The Data may be used, reproduced, and redistributed, including in derivative works and computation over the Data, with attribution. This page's schedules, computed journeys, and map geometry are built on that grant.
  • CapMetro's trademarks and logos may not be used in association with the Data. This page therefore carries no CapMetro branding or logos, and nothing on it implies CapMetro's sponsorship or endorsement.
  • The data remains CapMetro's. Schedules and real-time information are CapMetro's to publish and correct; where this page and CapMetro's own channels disagree, CapMetro's channels govern.

Street geometry is drawn from U.S. Census Bureau TIGER/Line 2025 data (public domain). Landmark footprints come from OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL).

No warranty

Transit data is provided as published by the agency and may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. This service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Do not rely on it as your only source for a time-critical trip.

Terms — Live Transit Cincinnati

Who publishes this service

Live Transit Cincinnati is published by AUTOMATEDTECHNOLOGIES d/b/a Detroit Automation Academy ("we", "us"). It is an independent service. It is not published by, affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA/Metro).

The service

Live Transit Cincinnati shows Metro vehicle positions, service alerts, and scheduled journeys on a map of the Cincinnati region. Riders never pay for Live Transit. There are no ads on the map. Live positions are republished from Metro's own feeds on a short cycle; a position is only as current as its timestamp, and scheduled journeys are computed from the published timetable — check the "updated" time on the page before relying on either.

Privacy — the short version

No account. No tracking. Your location never leaves this device. This service has no accounts and no sign-up. SORTA/Metro data and Metro's Developer Data terms

The transit data on this page — routes, stops, schedules, fares, vehicle positions, trip updates, and service alerts — is data of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA/Metro), used under the terms published on Metro's Developer Data page. Under those terms:

  • SORTA/Metro grants non-exclusive, limited and revocable rights to use, reproduce, and redistribute its transit route schedules, pricing, and other associated data. This page's schedules, computed journeys, and map geometry are built on that grant.
  • The data is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. SORTA/Metro makes no representations or warranties of any kind about the data, any modification of the data is solely at the user's own risk, and SORTA/Metro reserves the right to alter and/or no longer provide the data at any time without prior notice.
  • SORTA/Metro maintains title, ownership, rights, and interest in and to the data. SORTA/Metro trademarks and copyrighted materials, including any confusingly similar variants, may not be used in association with the data unless approved in writing by SORTA/Metro. This page therefore carries no Metro branding or logos, and nothing on it implies Metro's sponsorship or endorsement.

Terms — Live Transit Columbus

Who publishes this service

Live Transit Columbus is published by AUTOMATEDTECHNOLOGIES d/b/a Detroit Automation Academy ("we", "us"). It is an independent service. It is not published by, affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA).

The service

Live Transit Columbus shows the COTA bus network, current service alerts, and scheduled journeys on a map of Columbus and Franklin County, Ohio (the COTA service area). Riders never pay for Live Transit. There are no ads on the map. COTA does not publish live vehicle positions or trip updates — its vehicle-position and trip-update feeds return empty — so this service presents scheduled service only: times are the published timetable's, not a bus's actual location. Service alerts are republished from COTA's own alerts feed.

Privacy — the short version

No account. No tracking. Your location never leaves this device. Live Transit Columbus has no accounts and no sign-up. If you use the "Near me" feature, your location is used in your browser, on your device, to find your nearest stop; it is not sent to us or stored. Map preferences (which layers you show, whether the start sheet is collapsed) are stored only in your own browser.

COTA data and the COTA Terms of Agreement

The transit data on this page — routes, stops, schedules, and service alerts — is COTA Data obtained from COTA (cota.com/data) and its realtime endpoints (realtime.cota.com), and used under the COTA GTFS Terms of Use and Developer License (the COTA Data page "Terms of Agreement"), which grants a non-exclusive, limited, revocable license to use, reproduce, and redistribute the Data. Under those terms:

  • The Data may be used, reproduced, and redistributed. This page's schedules, computed journeys, and map geometry are built on that grant.
  • The terms' commercial restriction attaches to COTA's trademarks and copyrighted materials. This page therefore carries no COTA branding or logos, and nothing on it implies COTA's sponsorship or endorsement.
  • The data is provided "as is". Schedules and service information are COTA's to publish and correct; where this page and COTA's own channels disagree, COTA's channels govern. COTA's feeds are keyless public endpoints; no credential of any kind is involved in fetching them.
  • COTA reserves the right to alter and/or no longer provide the Data at any time; if the terms change, our use changes with them.

Street geometry is drawn from U.S. Census Bureau TIGER/Line 2025 data (public domain). Landmark footprints come from OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL).
